Stoicism was a school of Hellenistic Philosophy founded in Athens by Zeno of Citium in the early third century B.C. The stoics considered destructive emotions to be the result of errors in judgment, and that a sage, or person of "Moral and intellectual perfection," would not have such emotions. Stoics were concerned with the active relationship between cosmic determinism and human Freedom, and the belief that it is virtuous (Virtue) to maintain a Will (called prohairesis) (Self Control) that is in accord with nature. Because of this, the Stoics presented their philosophy as a Way Of Life, and they thought that the best indication of an individual's philosophy was not what a person said but how he behaved. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoicism (more)

In economics, the Gini coefficient (/ˈdʒiːni/ JEE-nee), also known as the Gini index or Gini ratio, is a measure of statistical dispersion intended to represent the income inequality, the wealth inequality, or the consumption inequality[2] within a nation or a social group. It was developed by Italian statistician and sociologist Corrado Gini. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gini_coefficient (more)

project that Mike Travers worked on for 2005 Lisp conference. https://hyperphor.com/ammdi/KnowOS a virtual environment consisting of abstract objects and operations to manipulate them... The central user interface of our current KnowOS is a web-based Lisp Listener and associated dynamic web pages, which users interact with through a standard web browser. (This basically invented the web-repl-notebook UI paradigm, later popularized by Jupyter.)
The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) was the first wide-area packet-switched network with distributed control and one of the first computer networks to implement the TCP/IP protocol suite. Both technologies became the technical foundation of the Internet. The ARPANET was established by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (now DARPA) of the United States Department of Defense.[1] Building on the ideas of J. C. R. Licklider, Bob Taylor initiated the ARPANET project in 1966 to enable resource sharing between remote computers.[2] Taylor appointed Larry Roberts as program manager. Roberts made the key decisions about the request for proposal to build the network.[3] He incorporated Donald Davies' concepts and designs for packet switching,[4][5] and sought input from Paul Baran on dynamic routing.[6] In 1969, ARPA awarded the contract to build the Interface Message Processors (IMPs) for the network to Bolt Beranek & Newman (BBN).[7][8] The design was led by Bob Kahn who developed the first protocol for the network. Roberts engaged Leonard Kleinrock at UCLA to develop mathematical methods for analyzing the packet network technology... Version 4 of TCP/IP was installed in the ARPANET for production use in January 1983 (starting Jan01'1983) after the Department of Defense made it standard for all military computer networking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET
Suddenly-popular (2020) framing for a personal digital notebook, ideally with associative bi-directional links. See Stream/Flow Vs Garden/Stock for history-links. Many people define it as being public-readable (like a WikiLog), for Thinking Out Loud value. Though some people/tools have 1 ThinkingSpace that has some public pages and some private notebook, aka Private Wiki. I now frame this pairing as Tending Your Inner And Outer Digital Gardens. (more)

In 1995, Hutchins published Cognition in the Wild,[5] a detailed study of distributed cognitive processes in a navy ship (an Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship[6]); like other works related to distributed cognition, it criticizes disembodied views of cognition and proposes an alternative which looks at cognitive systems that may be composed of multiple agents and the material world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Hutchins

Tribes and Movements are assumed to create change…where one is present the other is implied. Unfortunately, none of the anecdotes convincingly demonstrate the connection. (theory of change) (more)
